Dr. Sajda van der Leeuw is a philosopher and art historian, with a DPhil (PhD) in History of Art from the University of Oxford.
After the completion of a Research MA in Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam in 2012, she moved to New York City for a MA in History of Art at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University. Sajda has published articles and reviews on philosophy and art in numerous art catalogues, journals and magazines, the most recent on the medical and aesthetic history of melancholy and on Land Art (also sometimes referred to as ‘Eco Art’ or ‘Environmental Art’).
A long-time meditation practitioner, in her function of project manager for Science & Wisdom LIVE Sajda’s long-time interest (and practise) of Buddhism seems to magically come together with her professional life.
With her work in contemplative education she hopes to benefit the world and bring people together from all backgrounds, disciplines, and faiths. She strongly believes that the experience of interdependence and the emptiness of inherent existence has the ability to positively change humanity, allowing for a more harmonious co-existence on Earth of all sentient beings.
