Amanda Suzanne Evans, aka AmaSu is the Assistant e-Learning Coordinator for Science & Wisdom LIVE, in which role she helps in developing the e-Learning programme. She is assisting the project managers with the launch of the first e-course on Buddhism & Quantum Physics (Autumn 2022), and will take the lead in developing an e-Learning community for Science & Wisdom LIVE.
AmaSu is also a yoga and movement practitioner/teacher, who holds a MA Traditions of Yoga and Meditation in India and Tibet from SOAS, University of London. With a professional background in dance, AmaSu researches the intersection of movement meditation and yoga, inspired by body, mind, consciousness, and cosmology. She is a student at Jamyang on both the Discovering and Exploring Buddhism courses, in an Inclusivity and Diversity Ambassador role, under Geshe Namdak. At SOAS AmaSu is a member of the steering committee for the Centre of Yoga Studies (CYS) as both facilitator and teacher with Ebony Initiative for Black Scholars she founded Nourish to Flourish a mindfulness, meditation, and movement initiative for Black scholars. Awards and scholarships, include, Utrecht University Summer School, Decolonising the Museum, ‘learning to unlearn’, Seedcorn project funding and SOAS first residential writing retreat. She continues her work on decolonising and centring the black experience in spirituality, religion, and philosophy.
AmaSu has been teaching at Kyung Hee Universityin Korea academic summer school, and UCL initiating their first BIPOC yoga classes. She has been President to The Yoga and Meditation Society at SOAS and is a certified mindfulness teacher and continues to develop her own practise. AmaSu’s believes that greater understanding, knowledge, and compassion, creates a more peaceful and harmonious global humanity, and is looking forward to bringing this into practice for Science & Wisdom LIVE.
